Peugeot launches their smallest crossover in the country
There’s a new crossover in town, and it has a lion on the grille.
After launching the facelifted 5008 and 3008 crossovers, Peugeot Philippines has officially revealed the all-new 2008. Serving as the brand’s latest (and most affordable) offering yet, the next-generation 2008 combines sleek and aggressive looks, high-tech and practical features, and a turbocharged powertrain.
Starting with its design, the 2008 features the brand’s latest design philosophy. Borrowing some styling cues from the 3008, Peugeot’s newest lion comes with a sophisticated front end. It gets a distinct grille that’s paired with sleek pair of LED headlights, along with fang-like LED daytime running lights.
In keeping with the fang-like motif, Peugeot applied the same design on the 2008’s new LED taillights. Other noteworthy features seen on the crossover include stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, a floating roofline design, blacked-out D-pillars, black body cladding, and twin exhausts.
Size-wise, the 2008 measures 4300mm long, 1770mm wide, and 1550mm tall. It also has a generous wheelbase of 2605mm, plus 174mm of ground clearance. With its current dimensions, the 2008 could take on the likes of the Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, and MG ZS T.
The French flair continues inside the 2008 thanks to the 3D i-Cockpit design. It gets a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Peugeot’s signature D-cut steering wheel design. Complementing the sporty cabin are the toggle switches on the center dashboard.
Other neat features available in the 2008 include piano-black accents, automatic climate control, a six-speaker sound system, leather-wrapped seats and steering wheel, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and an engine start/stop button.
Powering the 2008 is a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine. Despite its humble size, the tiny motor puts out an impressive 130 PS at 5500 rpm along with 230 Nm of torque that’s readily available at 1750 rpm. Like its bigger siblings, the 2008 is only available with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual select. Drivers can also select from three driving modes; Normal, Eco, and Sport.
Peugeot did not skimp on the 2008 as it is packed with safety features. It gets anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, reverse camera, electronic stability, dynamic stability control, hill-start assist, anti-skid regulation, and 6 airbags.

The all-new Peugeot 2008 retails for PHP 1.550 million and is available in the following colors; Amazonite Gray, Nera Black, Pearl White, and Fusion Orange which is exclusive only to this crossover. Just like the 3008 and 5008, it’s covered by a 3-year/100,000 km warranty and is made at the new Stellantis assembly plant in Gurun, Malaysia.
Peugeot’s full vehicle lineup is available for viewing at MIAS until April 10, 2022. Customers can also test drive Peugeot’s various models during the event which include the 5008, 3008, and the Traveller.
