British carmaker MG has revealed that it received over 1,500 bookings for the 2022 ZS EV in the month of March. MG had launched the 2022 ZS EV on the 7th of March at Rs 25.88 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG launched the 2022 ZS EV with an uprated battery pack while also updating the styling of the electric SUV to bring it more in line with the Astor.
For the 2022 model year, MG gave the ZS EV a 50.3-kWh battery pack. The battery pack for the 2022 model year offers an extra 5.7kWh of capacity compared to its predecessor. The larger battery pack means that the range of the 2022 MG ZS EV is a claimed 461 kilometres on a single charge. This is 42 kilometres more range compared to the previous ZS EV.
The extended battery pack powers a single electric motor. The 2022 MG ZS EV’s electric motor produces 173.6bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. The uprated electric motor allows the ZS EV to sprint from 0-100km/h in just eight and a half seconds.
For the 2022 model year, MG also updated the styling of the ZS EV SUV. The MG ZS EV features sleek new headlights similar to the ones found on the Astor SUV. The front end also features a closed off grille section with the MG badge front and centre. To help keep the powertrain cool, the front bumper features large air intakes.
The 2022 MG ZS EV side profile remains unchanged. However, the Chinese owned British marque has added new alloy wheels to the electric SUV. The rear end of the MG ZS EV has also been updated for the 2022 model year. The changes at the rear include new LED taillights along with an updated rear bumper.
The MG ZS EV’s interiors have also been significantly updated for the 2022 model year. The biggest visible change sits front and centre on the dashboard in the form of the new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also new is the 7-inch driver’s display that sits behind the steering wheel.
The 2022 MG ZS EV also allows owners to unlock and drive the SUV thanks to the digital key function. Other features include a large dual-pane panoramic sunroof, along with safety features like 6 airbags, Lane Change Assist, blind spot detection, electronic stability control, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system among others.
The success of the 2022 ZS EV in the month of March was part of a successful quarter for the British marque. MG claims that sales in Q1 2022 were 69 per cent more than that recorded in Q4 2021. In the month of March, MG sold a total of 4,721 vehicles.
