The ZS EV facelift gets a host of visual updates both inside and out along with more power and a bigger battery
Arrived in 2020, the MG ZS EV has had a good run in the premium compact EV category. The new facelifted version promises to be better than its predecessor in all aspects and gets a long list of updates as well. Here’s a video from the YouTube channel of ‘Arun Panwar’, which highlights all the updates that the new MG ZS EV has received.
What are the exterior changes in 2022 MG ZS EV?
The star of this video is the MG ZS EV facelift in the Ashen Silver shade. With this new version, the EV has shifted closer to the new MG Astor in resemblance. The biggest change on the exterior is the closed grille at the front, which now is body-coloured and hides the charging socket to the left of the chrome-finished MG logo in the middle. This charging socket hides both AC and DC ports one over the other.

The front bumper is new too, which gets a chrome garnish that commences from the air vents on the sides of the bumper and exists across the bumper’s width. Even the headlamps are new. Shared with the Astor, the angular headlamp housings get LED projectors, boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs, and sleek LED turn indicators.

Moving to the side profile, the new MG ZS EV looks much similar to the pre-facelift version, with the facelifted version getting a new aero design for the 17-inch machined alloy wheels. At the back, the MG ZS EV gets new LED tail lamps from the Astor and chrome garnish at the bottom of the rear bumper.
What are the cabin changes in the 2022 MG ZS EV?
MG has added new features to the car as well
After showing the changes on the outside, the walk-around video shows the highlights of the revamped cabin of the updated MG ZS EV. The only bit retained here from the pre-facelift version of the SUV is the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which is tilt-adjustable and gets a button for E-call on its left spoke. The upper layer, door pads and lower centre console get a soft touch leather finish, while the middle layer of the dashboard gets a textured faux carbon fibre finish.
Behind the steering wheel, there is a new full-TFT instrument console, which has got multiple displays on offer. The centre console gets a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which now features additional voice commands and a new JIO e-SIM enabled connectivity system with new features, including Jio-Saavn music streaming. This new screen also gets toggle like switches for functions of the audio system and automatic climate control below it.
The lower centre console has a round-shaped gear selector knob with three modes – reverse, neutral and drive, above which there are three different switches for drive mode, KERS and battery level indicator.
The ZS EV continues to have three drive modes of normal, eco and sport, which alter the throttle response as required. Further, the console also gets switches for the electric parking brake and auto-hold beside each other and two cup holders behind them.
For charging your devices, the lower console in the ZS EV’s cabin has a 12V socket, a USB socket, a USB Type-C socket and a wireless charging pad. There is an additional USB port hidden behind the inside rearview mirror, which can come in handy for operating the dash-cam.
Other features, which are available in this higher-spec Exclusive variant of the ZS EV, include a huge panoramic sunroof, 360-degree parking camera, six airbags, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and rear cross-traffic alert.
2022 MG ZS EV is more powerful
The new ZS EV is more powerful and also gets a longer range
The MG ZS EV has also seen a massive upgrade under its hood. It gets a new and more powerful electric motor powering its front wheels, which produces 174 bhp of maximum power and 280 Nm of peak torque output.
It also gets a new bigger, floor-mounted 50.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. This battery claims a driving range of 461 km and takes nine hours for a full charge with the 7.4 kW wall-mounted AC fast charger provided with the SUV by MG.
