DEARBORN: Ford’s new upcoming F-150 is due to make its debut at this year’s Detroit Auto Show with an added 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine to join the lineup.
Ford isn’t revealing much details at the moment, only that its 3.0-litre Power Stroke diesel engine will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
It will also come fitted with an automatic start-stop system as standard and looks to hit the markets during the second quarter of this year.
The new F-150 will be built at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.
In terms of updates, the F-150 will be receiving newly designed grille, headlight, bumpers, tailgate and rear light clusters as well as six new 17 to 22-inch wheel designs for choice.
Depending on variant, they will also come equipped with adaptive cruise control with start-stop functionality, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, embedded 4G LTE modem for a Wi-Fi hot spot (connect up to 10 mobile devices) and a new B&O PLAY audio system.
These will be accompanied by the usual inclusion of SYNC and SYNC 3 with FordPass, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera, lane-keeping system and blind spot information system.
