Chinese-owned British carmaker MG has produced its 100,000th Hector SUV at its facility in Gujarat, 4 years after the first one rolled off the lines in 2018.
The 100,000th MG Hector to roll off the production line in Halol, Gujarat was finished in Glaze Red and was given quite a sendoff when it rolled off the production line.
MG has also started production of the updated version of the Hector which is expected to make its debut in the very near future (January). The revised MG Hector will bring quite a few cosmetic changes, many of which have been teased by the British firm ahead of the updated SUV’s upcoming launch.
The new facelifted MG Hector offers quite a few design changes the biggest of which can be seen at the front where the SUV now sports a larger grille with a very distinct pattern that seems to be finished off in chrome. The SUV retains its split headlamp look but now gets added chrome on the lower section of both front and rear bumpers.

The changes on the inside are also very bold and visible. The most visible of these changes comes in the form of the larger 14-inch infotainment display that retains its portrait orientation.
The new MG Hector will also sport a digital driver’s display along with an updated aircon vent design, a new gear lever for the automatic version and an electronic parking brake.
The biggest changes in the new MG Hector will come in the form of advanced driver aid systems better known as ADAS. The ADAS suit will include the likes of adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and blind spot detection among others. The updated Hector will also have a host of safety features including 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and TPMS.
Mechanically, the MG Hector will remain unchanged with the SUV set to retain its 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol hybrid and the sole 2.0-litre diesel. Transmission options will also remain the same with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed DCT automatic and CVT automatic.
Thoughts About The MG Hector’s Milestone & Future
MG’s 100,000th Hector made in India shows that the British brand’s big SUV has quite a following here in India. With the updated Hector on the way, we should hopefully see a lot more of these SUVs on our roads in the very near future.
