Ferrari has revealed the first images of its new “special version” 812 Superfast.
The model’s full name, along with all its technical details, will be detailed during a launch event on 5 May.
What Ferrari did reveal, however, is that the special version of 812 Superfast will pack a naturally-aspirated V12 engine which puts out 610kW and revs to 9,500rpm.
The company said the power output and rev limit are both the highest of any Ferrari road-car internal combustion engine.
Additional improvements to the engine include the redesign of key components and the use of a new valve timing mechanism.
This has been coupled with independent steering on all four wheels of the car for improved handling, and version 7.0 of the Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.
New front air intakes, rear diffuser, and exhaust configuration have also been added for improved driving performance.
Interior
On the inside, the architecture “very much reflects that of the 812 Superfast”.
This sees the retention of the main dash and door panel interfaces and volumes, including the diapason motif.
“Along with other elements of the interior, the door panel has been redesigned to reduce weight and, combined with the introduction of the H-gate theme on the tunnel, this lends the cockpit a sportier, more modern edge that reflects the car’s racing spirit.”
Aimed at collectors
“The new model is the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta, honing the characteristics of the critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before,” said Ferrari.
“The result is a car that encapsulates and epitomises the company’s 70-plus years of experience on the world’s circuits, drawing on its thoroughbred sports car DNA to deliver a perfect marriage of performance, form, and function.”
The company said the new model is aimed at Ferrari collectors and connoisseurs.
