The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus will the ageing Vento and will share its mechanicals with the SLavia
Volkswagen recently confirmed the global premiere of the VW Virtus in March 2022 and if reports are to be believed, the car will be launched in India by the end of May 2022. It should replace the aging Vento, that’s been around for the better part of a decade now. The VW Virtus was first launched in 2018 and has been a success for the German brand in South American markets.
The facelift model will make its debut soon and will be available in the Indian market for the first time. Here are all the details that need want to know about VW’s upcoming compact sedan.
Exterior Design

Starting with the styling first, the Volkswagen gets an elegant front fascia and boasts a premium character. Upfront the Virtus features LED headlamps, a subtle bumper design, and an upmarket front fascia. The car also gets dual-cut alloy wheels that complement the overall styling. The rear too falls in line with the rest of the design and gets large LED taillights and a premium look.

Inside, the buyers will appreciate the attractive dashboard layout and a premium cabin. The Virtus will offer class-leading dimensions as a mid-size sedan and earns itself a major plus point over the Vento it is replacing.
In a recent interview with Autocar India, Ashish Gupta, brand director of Volkswagen India said, “We will be introducing and rounding up our portfolio with the introduction of a new global sedan, which will world premiere in early March and then the model introduction in the third week of May.”

Engines Specifications
The overall dimensions are larger and the elegant lines from some angles remind you of VWs larger sedans like the Passat
In India, the Virtus will be offered two petrol engine options to choose from – 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI engines. The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder turbo engine is expected to churn out 115 hp of power and is expected to come mated with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The second engine on offer is the 1.5 TSI four-cylinder turbo engine, which is expected to put out 150 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is likely to come mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission.
Final Thoughts
Left-hand drive test mules have already been spotted on test runs, in India. So its only a matter of time for the official roll out of the Vento replacememnt

The Virtus has already been spotted testing in India, albeit in left-hand drive. The Vento replacement will take on the rivals like Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti CIaz, and Skoda Slavia when it officially goes on sale later this year. More details however are yet to be detailed by the brand.
