The much-anticipated 2023 Le Mans grid is finally shaping up. In addition to fully-revealed challengers from Peugeot and Toyota already set to race in 2022, Porsche has been testing its car in camouflage since last month. Cadillac seems to be next in line to reveal their car, starting with a series of teasers today.
The most revealing is the still above, which shows a unique headlight design like those the company debuted on the Lyriq EV back in 2020. The angular nose is styled more like a road car than a traditional prototype, a stark contrast from the current DPi.VR racer.

A second teaser reveals an aggressive front fender shape that falls off dramatically before the car’s more traditional sidepod. These are the elements shared with the common Dallara LMP2 chassis Cadillac is using as part of the LMDh rule set, so the company has slightly less freedom to work within them. The car in front has vertical taillights and a traditional rear wing setup. That may not seem like news on a race car, but Peugeot is currently planning to race a car without a rear wing in the same class.

Finally, a video shows the top-down view of the car’s sidepods and reveals what will be the car’s signature feature: Four winglets shaped like fins, two angled in opposite directions on each side. While these were in the company’s original rendering when the program was announced, this is the first official indication that those winglets will make their way onto a car that will race at Le Mans.
The Cadillac prototype, currently named Project GTP, will race in both the IMSA GTP and Le Mans Hypercar classes starting in 2023. Cadillac says that the car will feature a “new Cadillac engine package,” meaning the company will likely be moving on from its current 6.2-liter racing V-8.
