The 2021 Peugeot e-Rifter has been revealed, offering practicality and a pure-electric drive. Like the petrol and diesel-powered Rifters also on sale, it's a van-based MPV and will travel up to 171 miles on a full charge.
Like the combustion-engined models, the e-Rifter comes in five and seven-seat configurations, both available in Standard or Long body lengths.
The e-Rifter gets a 50kWh battery and single electric motor producing 136hp and 260nm, good for 0-62mph in 11.2 seconds and a top speed of 83mph. Like all EVs though, it should feel much quicker in town. The e-Rifter can also tow up to 750kg.
On the charging front, you get a 7kW charging cable as standard, but you can pay extra for an 11kW one if needed. Happily, all e-Rifters can be charge at up to 100kW, which'll make a huge difference during quick top-ups on longer trips.
A full charge from a 7.4kW Wallbox will take 7.5 hours, or five hours using the optional 11kW three-phase charger. On a 100kW rapid charge, a 0 to 80% charge can be completed in just 30 minutes.
The 50kWh lithium-ion battery is located underneath the floor, which means boot and cabin space remains the same as the standard Rifter. Boot space ranges from 775-litres for the five-seat Standard length variant up to 4,000-litres with the seats folded on Long variants.
Also like the standard models, the e-Rifter is available with a number of very generous and easily accessible storage compartments for added practicality, adding up to 186-litres of additional storage capacity.
The e-Rifter comes with three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Power. These gradually step up the available power and torque depending on how much you want to protect the range. There are also two levels of regenerative braking to go with it.
As for trim equipment and trim levels, the e-Rifter looks generous across its two forms. Entry-level Allure Premium models come standard with an 8-inch central touchscreen, Roof Rails, Rear Parking Sensors and 180° coloured rear camera, opening rear window and 16-inch aluminium wheels.
Pricier GT models come with 17-inch aluminium wheels, bespoke GT styling elements and individual rear seats.
Prices are yet to be confirmed, but the 2021 Peugeot e-Rifter will be orderable online later in the year, where you'll be able to spec your car, discuss it with Peugeot representatives, sort any finance required and confirm delivery. Of course, you can test drive it too if you'd prefer.
