Audi RS6 recall USA Top Gear
Get those bottle tops tightly secured, folks. Audi is recalling more than 50,000 cars in the USA because a drinks spillage in the back seats can cause them to go into a limp home mode.
No, seriously. Apparently a load of A6s and A7s (and their performance iterations) built between 2018 and 2022 were missing a protective cover for something called the ‘gateway control module’.
Said module can be damaged by liquid and we’re told there have already been 46 cases of the problem in the US – hence the recall.
In Audi’s report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) it says that it’ll notify the owners of the affected cars before 20 January next year, before fitting the protection at no cost to customers.
Sounds bonkers, but probably best to stop the kids drinking in the back of your Audi for a few months…
