Subaru mid-November announced Canadian pricing for its 2023 Solterra, which it says will arrive in dealerships over the next few months: the new model, the brand’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV), will start at $54,295. The Solterra channels 215 horspower through an all-wheel-drive platform, and uses a 72.8-kWh battery to provide for a range of up to 360 kilometres.
Additionally, it has a CCS1 combo charger that allows for Level 1 and Level 2 AC and 100-kW DC fast-charging. Drivers can expect a charge to 80 per cent from near-empty in 50 minutes, according to a statement.
The 2023 Solterra is available as a single-trim model, with two option packages from which to choose. The standard Solterra offers an X-Mode AWD system with hill ascent and descent control; S-Pedal drive; and regenerative braking, plus 18-inch wheels. Inside the new BEV, you’ll find heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an 8.0-inch touchscreen screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The Luxury package (which brings total MSRP to $58,395) adds $4,100 to the price tag, but you get a 360-degree camera system, roof rails, a rear spoiler, fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, two-tone paint options, parking assist, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The Technology package ($62,095) adds $7,800 price tag to the standard model. It comes with all the Luxury option package features, but includes a panoramic fixed glass roof, a gloss-black accent on the hood, a tonneau cargo cover, ventilated seats, and a smart rearview mirror.
Subaru Solterra Connect is included in its purchase. A three-year trial subscription gives Solterra drivers advanced safety features like advanced automatic collision notification, enhanced roadside assistance, SOS emergency service, stolen-vehicle recovery, and stolen-vehicle immobilizer. Other technologies include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and safe-exit assist.
