Like other models in the lineup, the flagship and only remaining Bentley sedan has been given some sporty treatment with the introduction of the Flying Spur S. Cue the gloss black finishes and red brake calipers.
Bentley recently unveiled their Spicier V8 Bentley Continental S for the GT and GTC models and now is the turn of the only remaining sedan in their stables ahead of the official premiere. The sporty trim pack will be properly unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed happening from the 23rd to the 26th of June where it will take to the famous hillclimb along with the Continental GT S and GTC S although we have our suspicions that it may be a tad slower than its Conti counterparts.
Included in the Flying Spur S package is the use of black trim for the grille, lower fascia, mirrors, window surrounds, fender air inlets. Rear bumper accents and exhaust outlets. The headlights and taillights also have tinted lenses with an S badge placed on the lower portion of the front fender.
Buyers have two options for what sits within the fenders, with 22-inch Y-shaped spokes shown here finished in a choice of a gloss black or Pale Brodgar Satin finish. The more plush option would be the 21-inch tri-spoke derivative finished in gloss black and machined metal. Behind the alloys are calipers painted in red.
Powering the Flying Spur S is a range of two engines. Either a 405 kW 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 that can achieve a 100 km/h sprint in 4,0 seconds compliments of 770 N.m or a more frugal 2,9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 that is good for 400 kW and an impressive 75- N.m with the addition of electric assistance. It can sprint to triple digits in only 0,1 seconds less than its V8 brute sibling and can trundle around for a claimed 41 km using solely electric power.
The inside of the sedan is as commodious as can be expected from Bentley with a variety of two-tone leather colour schemes to choose from for buyers. The S emblem is embroidered on the headrests and is also found on the treadplates beneath the door.
