Bentley Bentayga EWB Launched in Singapore
Singapore – The Bentayga remains the most popular model in the brand’s lineup, having emerged on the world stage in 2015 just as consumer tastes began shifting from luxury saloons to glamorous soft roaders. In 2022 alone, the Bentayga remained the brand’s best selling model, accounting for 42% of Bentley’s production numbers. Up from 40% the previous year.
Given those statistics, it’s clear that the SUV craze isn’t tapering off. Buyers clearly love their SUVs, luxury, and they want more. With that in mind, Bentley Singapore has revealed the latest flagship; The Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB).
According to Bentley, the Bentayga EWB is the result of over 2,500 new parts and 9 figures’ worth of development for one primary purpose: extending the Bentayga’s wheelbase by 180mm.
Yep, 18 centimetres. That’s all that separates this flagship Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase from the ‘standard’ Bentayga. Well, as standard as a S$1 million luxury SUV can be. To the casual observer, 18cm may not sound much. Especially when the car in question is an ultra-luxe SUV that measures a whopping 5,322mm long. But that increase in length comes with improved rear occupancy. According to Bentley, the Bentayga EWB has increased interior dimensions compared to other cars in its (very niche) segment. More room, more luxury for more wealth.
And let’s be honest, you’d have to have a considerable amount of wealth to afford one of these. The Bentley Bentayga EWB has a starting price of S$1,329,000 before you factor in a COE and options. However, the model pictured above is the Bentayga EWB Azure which comes with a price tag of S$1,519,000.
With the Azure, buyers would get a smattering of options that provides customers with additional features geared toward a driver’s “well-being behind the wheel”. These include an advanced driving assistance system to keep drivers alert, but comfortable and relaxed behind the wheel. The Azure model also comes with a front seat specification that includes 22-way adjustment in the seats, ventilated and heated seats as well as numerous trim and leather options. All told, there are literally billions of variations of trim combinations so statistically, no two Bentayga EWB Azures will be the same.
Of course, the upgrades you get with the Azure aren’t limited to interior comfort. The exterior features brightened grilles and unique 22-inch rims to enable the Bentayga to live up to its reputation. The car can be had with a 4+1 seater configuration by default, as a 5 seater with a flat rear bench, or optioned with an airline seat specification that allows the rear seats to be reclined up to 40 degrees.
However you spec your Bentayga EWB, you’d still be getting Bentley’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 550 horsepower and 770Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is dealt with in just 4.6 seconds, and the car manages a top speed of 290km/h. Still plenty fast, and it’ll get you where you’re going in style.
