- Honda’s most affordable car should come as no surprise
- The next cheapest car provides a lot more room
- The cheapest Honda model isn’t a car
Since the Honda Fit was made a couple of years, car buyers may be wondering what the Japanese automaker’s most affordable car is. After all, the Fit was the right fit (pun intended) for buyers on a budget for over a decade. But with that plucky little hatchback out of the lineup, what is the cheapest Honda car for the 2023 model year?
Honda’s most affordable car should come as no surprise
2023 Honda Civic | Honda
With the Honda Fit out of the running, it should come as no surprise that the 2023 Civic sedan is the most affordable Honda car you can buy. The 2023 Honda Civic has a starting MSRP of $24,650, which undercuts the next most-affordable car – the Accord – by nearly $2,000. The main change for the 2023 model year is the exclusion of the Civic LX trim.
That makes the Civic Sport the current base trim with the aforementioned starting price. This sporty model comes with s 158-hp, 2.0-liter engine that’s matched with a continuously variable transmission. It also comes with some sporty exterior touches that the higher trim doesn’t have. The most notable features include 18-inch gloss black wheels, a chrome exhaust finisher, gloss-black side mirrors, and matte-black upper window trim.
The inside of the 2023 Civic Sport has a little sportiness to it as well. The only interior color available is black, which works well with the sport cloth upholstery that covers the seats. There’s also a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 180-watt sound system, all of which make the Civic Sport quite the bargain.

2023 Honda Accord | Honda
Buyers needing a little more in-cabin space than what the Honda Civic has to offer should look at the Accord. The good news for those prospective buyers is that the Accord is all-new for the 2023 model year. Honda spruced up the midsize sedan with a refined exterior aesthetic as well as an updated interior.
There are also new standard driver safety aids and a dual-motor hybrid powertrain for the fuel-sipping models. However, the base 2023 Accord LX model will come with a gas-powered, turbocharged 1.5-liter mill that puts out 192 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. The pricing for the 2023 model has not been released yet.
However, the 2022 Honda Accord is still on the manufacturer’s website and it has a starting price of $26,520. Buyers will find the same specs on the base Accord LX model for this year but won’t have the updated looks or safety tech.
The cheapest Honda model isn’t a car
2023 Honda HR-V | Allison Barfield, MotorBiscuit
Buyers looking for the cheapest model that Honda has in the lineup should look in the SUV and crossover section. The most affordable model is the 2023 Honda HR-V, which starts at $23,800 (before the destination charge). For that money, buyers can get the base HR-V LX trim level, which comes with a 158-hp engine, the Honda Sensing suite of driver assist features and Apple Carplay compatibility.
The HR-V primarily comes in a front-drive configuration, but an all-wheel drive setup is available. Ultimately, if you’re looking for Honda’s cheapest car, look no further than the almighty Civic since we doubt Honda will come out with another Fit any time soon.
