2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: What is it?
Classic Porsches are hot property, but what if you could have the classic look with the latest mechanicals? Well, the previous Sport Classic 911 launched back in 2009 (above) did just that, with features such as a ducktail spoiler and unique alloy wheels, plus a unique retro interior.
Porsche has been seen testing a potential new Sport Classic, based on its Carrera S 911, but once again featuring a ducktail spoiler, centre-lock alloy wheels with a Fuchs style design and bumpers that are close to that of the 911 Turbo.
2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: What is it powered by?
If based on the current 911 Carrera S, the Sport Classic will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six petrol engine producing 450hp through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox to the rear wheels.
Of course, nobody is ruling out that the Sport Classic might get slightly more power to mark it out from a standard Carrera S and further justify its likely higher price. A manual gearbox could also be an option, as well as all-wheel drive.
The Carrera S can sprint to 62mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds and go on to 191mph.
2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: When could it be on sale?
This test mule looks to be fairly late in its development, so although we have no confirmed on-sale date, we'd wager the Sport Classic could go on sale towards the end of 2021.
2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: How much could it cost?
There are currently no confirmed prices for the Sport Classic. However, given a 911 Carrera S currently costs around £97,000, we can assume the Sport Classic's retro touches will push it well beyond £100,000.
The previous 911 Sport Classic was limited to a run of 250 units, but it's more likely that this new model won't be capped.
