British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has launched the Street Triple 765 R and Street Triple 765 RS in India. The Triumph Street Triple 765 R is priced at Rs 10.17 lakh while the RS is priced at Rs 11.81 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
The Triumph Street Triple 765 lineup marks a big change from the previous set of bikes that bore the Street Triple name. The new Street Triple 765 R & RS look sharper and features a whole lot more tech and power.
The new Triumph Street Triple 765 R is powered by a liquid-cooled, 765cc inline three-cylinder engine that features dual overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder.
The inline triple now produces 118.4bhp at 11,500rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox which is aided slip-and-assist clutch.
The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS uses the same engine as the 765 R. In the 765 RS, the engine pushes out 128.2bhp at 12,000rpm but the torque figure remains the same at 80Nm. The gearbox is also the same.
The Triumph Street Triple R & RS sport an aluminium beam twin spar frame suspended on 41mm Showa upside down big piston forks at the front and either a Showa (R) or Öhlins STX 40 (RS) monoshock at the rear. The suspension setup is fully adjustable for compression, rebound and preload.
Braking duties on the new Street Triple 765 R and RS are carried out by twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear. The R sports Brembo M4.32 4-piston radial monobloc callipers at the front while the RS gets Brembo Stylema 4-piston radial monobloc callipers.
Both the 765 R and 765 RS versions of the new Street Triple sport single-piston Brembo callipers at the rear. The brakes are aided by the latest optimised cornering ABS setup at both the front and rear.
Both the new Street Triple 765 models from Triumph ride on 17-inch wheels shod with 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 180/55 ZR 17 (rear) tyres. The Street Triple 765 R rides on Continental’s Conti Road tyres while the Rs gets Pirelli’s Diablo SupercorsaSP V3 rubber.
In terms of looks, the new Street Triple 765 lineup looks a lot more aggressive than its predecessor. There is an air intake in the headlight finisher and the aggressive angular side panels gel well with the muscular fuel tank.
The bike sweeps upward at the rear and narrows into the sleek LED taillight. The chunky side exhaust adds more muscle to the looks and vents the engine’s fury at the world.
Thoughts About The Triumph Street Triple 765 Lineup
The new Triumph Street Triple 765 lineup for India is almost half a lakh rupees more expensive than the previous bikes that bore the Street Triple badge. However, the upgrades to the engine and electronics as well as the hyper-aggressive design more than make up for the jump in prices.
