Toyota confirmed the Glanza CNG through its official website in India and it could become the first CNG product in the segment.
Recently Toyota Kirloskar announced the prices of the all-new Glanza. Based on the new-gen Baleno, the Glanza gets the same engine and transmission options as the Glanza. While Toyota has confirmed the arrival of the Glanza CNG in the Indian market, the price announcement of the car is still a few months away.
What will be different in the Toyota Glanza CNG?
Both Glanza and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will get the same engine
This is the first time that a car from the premium hatchback segment will offer a CNG option in the Indian market. The Toyota Glanza CNG will continue to offer the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Just like any other engine, the 1.2-litre engine will produce slightly less power in the CNG mode. For reference, with petrol, the new K12N engine produces a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm.
The Toyota website also confirms the fuel efficiency of the new CNG variants will be 25 km/l. It is higher than the petrol fuel efficiency of 22.35 km/l with the manual transmission.

Toyota will call the CNG technology “e-CNG” unlike the S-CNG by Maruti Suzuki. The new variant of CNG will be priced at around Rs 75,000 more than the standard version of the car.
Maruti Suzuki will soon offer Baleno CNG
Maruti Suzuki will also bring the new-gen Baleno with the CNG option
Just like we reported recently, Maruti Suzuki is working to bring CNG power to its premium Nexa line-up. The first Nexa car to get the CNG will be the new-gen Baleno. Even the Baleno will offer exact same specifications as the Toyota Glanza.
Both the cars will not offer an automatic transmission. However, both the manufacturers may offer the top-end fully-loaded variant with CNG. The move was initially made popular by Tata Motors when it introduced the iCNG models of Tigor and Tiago.
Toyota has now information from the website
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Toyota Glanza will be the first cars in the segment to get CNG. All other cars like the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the Tata Altroz are yet to announce any plans of offering CNG with their respective cars.
