The WRX STI in question is a 2009 model that was the world’s first AWD 2JZ with a six-speed manual, and that had the ability to switch from RWD to AWD with “a flick of a switch,” reports GT Spirit. Now the car has had its 2JZ ripped out so that the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 can be fitted. Naturally, this isn’t a performance upgrade from a 2JZ in stock form, so Proulx will be taking the massive motor way beyond its stock rating of 308 horsepower to “a minimum of 1,000 hp”. To get there, a pair of G30-770 turbochargers will be added to the big engine, which now features forged connecting rods, pistons, and valve springs. Also included are 1,000-cc Bosch injectors, with a MaxxECU PRO Standalone system managing everything.
