And the green paint looks fantastic.
Polestar has just announced a new limited edition version of the Polestar 2, called the BST edition 230. The number in the name refers to how many Polestar will produce for European and North American markets. This new model follows in the footsteps of last year's Polestar 2 BST edition 270.
Polestar says the 230 focuses more on the performance design details than last year's model, although it doesn't seem that much different from the 270. Power is basically the same, with the 230 producing a potent 476 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque from its dual motor setup.
It also wears an exclusive new shade called Green Nebula, which looks sublime. We hope to see it as part of the standard Polestar palette eventually. You can also order the vehicle in Space Black, but why go that route when this unique hue you see below is available?
Aside from the power and the paint, the interior features MicroSuede seats and steering wheel inserts. Like the 270, this model comes with an optional graphics package that looks good, if not a bit childish. The massive “2” graphic is a bit much and doesn't fit well with what we see as an elegant brand.
Aside from the power, the model features all of the chassis upgrades that helped the 270 absolutely rip. The enhancements include a one-inch lowered ride height, specially designed Ohlins two-way adjustable dampers with external reservoirs, a front strut bar, 20% stiffer springs, and custom 21-inch alloy wheels. It wears unique 245/35R21 Pirelli P Zero tires specifically made for BST cars.
With the second BST model in as many years, it's pretty apparent these models are working for the company. Polestar confirmed as much, confirming that more special editions like these are planned as it allows them to explore configurations and options in more creative ways.
The car will ship in the third quarter of 2023, along with the updated 2024 Polestar 2. It will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so jump on the opportunity while it's hot. No pricing has been revealed, but last year's model sold for $75,000, so this one will probably be priced in the same ballpark.
The model is fully loaded with the Plus and Pilot packs and, with all the performance upgrades, is well-priced compared to a regular comparable Polestar 2. So we think if you're looking at one of these vehicles and have the means, the 230 looks like a pretty awesome car, and the green paint alone is probably worth the upgrade.
