Polestar Automotive is a premium Swedish electric performance vehicle manufacturer that was established in 2017 by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding. The start-up brand has dealers in over 20 international markets around the world, with the latest entries being United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal, through which it retails the Polestar 2 sedan. The brand has confirmed the 3, 4, 5 & 6 models that will follow by 2026, as it targets annual sales of 290,000 units by 2025.
So what’s the Polestar 7?
Frankly, nothing is known about this rather mysterious model, apart from the fact that it will be an EV and would logically boast cutting-edge technologies that the Swedish brand is planning for other cars. So far, the best evidence we have regarding this car’s arrival comes from a brief exchange about between Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath and Automotive News Europe in November 2022.
What could the Polestar 7 be, then?

With most of its future models already being officially announced, the Polestar 7 is one where speculations will begin raging. The brand has already confirmed the Polestar 3, 4, 5, and 6, which is its pipeline to 2026. Given that the Polestar 6 is expected to arrive in 2026 as a low-volume roadster, it’s unlikely that the 7 will be a similar vehicle.
A luxury sedan or a light crossover?
However, we can imagine it in the form of a luxury sedan slotting between the Polestar 2 and the Polestar 5 GT, to take on the likes of the Audi A6 Electric and the BMW i5. Although, considering how many buyers tend to lean towards crossovers and SUVs, we are unsure if this would actually transpire. However, if unveiled as an SUV for the city, a second car for the household, if you will, the Polestar 7 won’t have to struggle to find takers. Alternatively, this EV may find itself as a practical alternative to the Polestar 4 SUV-Coupe with a flatter roofline, and perhaps a third row of seats.
A highly-autonomous MPV?
There exists a possibility that the Polestar 7 could end up being designed as an all-electric van, like what we see with the VW ID. Buzz and Zeekr 002. If that were to materialize, the company could pitch it as a commercial-only model or as a suitable alternative to the VW.
Production & Release Date
Currently, all Polestar vehicles are manufactured at the brand’s primary production facility in Chengdu, China, with Volvo Cars’ facility in Ridgeville, South Carolina (USA), to begin Polestar production in mid-2024. In his conversation with the Automotive News Europe, Ingenlath stated that the brand is wanting to commence production in Europe as well. At around the same timeframe, the CEO expects to see the Polestar 7 making its international debut. We believe that that Polestar 7 could launch around 2027.

Polestar is already en-route to mastering the production of high-volume cars like the Polestar 2, with help coming from Volvo Cars for platforms, sourcing and production centers. It plans to release one new electric vehicle each year, and the automaker will eventually cover all major segments in the premium car market. In the case of the expected Polestar 7, we think that being an affordable, must-have SUV is something that would keep prospective customers enthralled.
