The ORA Good Cat is right around the corner
Singapore – It’s official, the ORA Good Cat is headed for Singapore. As part of a signed distribution agreement between Cycle & Carriage and Great Wall Motors, the partnership will see the two entities joining hands to bring the EV hatchback to Singapore this year.
For those who may be wondering, ORA is a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors (GWM) (which also has several marques under its umbrella including Haval) that produces electric vehicles for the mass consumer market.
Judging by the car’s reception in Malaysia and Thailand, the brand is making good headway into the South East Asian market with the ORA Good Cat. In Thailand alone, the ORA Good Cat had 6000 pre-orders within the first two days of its announcement.
Cycle & Carriage has mentioned that the ORA Good Cat will be the first model that will be brought into Singapore, targeted at younger, or young-at-heart buyers who prioritise value and safety. While details are still scarce at the moment, there are good indications that it won’t be the only vehicle from GWM’s ORA marque to make landfall in Singapore.
According to brand representatives from C&C, the Good Cat is scheduled to go on sale in Singapore sometime in June 2023. While we have no details on pricing or specifications, we know that only one variant of the Good Cat will be coming to Singapore. However, based on the variants on sale in other regions, we know that the Ora Good Cat can be had with three trims with different battery sizes; two trims with a 47.8kWh battery and a longer range 63.1kWh model.
On the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) test cycle, the former two options will net you 401km of range on a full charge while the latter manages up to 501km. However, the NEDC cycle tends to be a little generous with efficiency figures so take those range figures with a small pinch of salt. Though we should expect the long-range model to surpass the 400km mark with ease.
Under the bodywork of all lurks a front-mounted electric motor that generates 143hp and 210Nm of torque, enough to propel the Good Cat to a 150km/h top speed. All the right ingredients for a funky, uniquely styled EV hatchback that would turn heads.
