Made entirely from recyclable materials, the Zero-one concept is a one-of-a-kind e-scooter that sets a new benchmark for sustainability
With the popularity of EVs, the electric mobility space sees many new products each day. One such product is the recently unveiled Naon Zero-One electric scooter. What sets this scooter apart, you ask? Read on to find out.
Naon Zero-One Design & Features
As this is a concept, the scooter isn’t on sale currently. But it will go on sale in Germany later. Swipe up to know its price.
The first thing that catches the eye is always the design. And it’s safe to say the Naon Zero-One does pretty well. The design language is quite minimalist yet futuristic and unconventional.
It’s not sharp or edgy from any angle and gets rounded bodywork all around. There’s a sleek, horizontally stacked LED headlight upfront, followed by a spacious footboard. Plus, the handlebar has been left exposed for a cleaner fascia.
At the rear, you get a hugger-mounted number plate and split LED tail lamps
At the rear, there’s a sleek single-piece seat with integrated split LED tail lamps. The number plate, though unneeded for a concept, is housed on the tyre hugger ensuring a clean rear end.
Like the design, the feature-list of the Naon Zero-One is also minimalistic. In fact, so minimalistic that there’s no instrument cluster on it. You can, however, mount your smartphone on the handlebar and use the smartphone app to view rider details.
The danging seat has a small underseat storage for added practicality
The basic bits are on point, though, with the Zero-One scooter featuring:
- All-LED lighting
- Disc brakes at both ends
- Dual-channel ABS
- Detachable batteries
Naon Zero-One Battery & Motor
This design is quite minimalistic
The Naon Zero-One e-scooter draws electricity from a detachable 2.4kWh battery, which is good enough for 70km of range. Seems less? Well, the Naon can actually hold two such batteries, boosting its total claimed range to 140km. Further, the batteries are located under the floorboard, thus giving the scooter a better centre of gravity.
As for the powerhouse, the scooter is available in two variants – L1e and L3e. The former is powered by a 3kW motor and can reach 45kmph while the latter employs a 7kW motor, boasting a top speed of 100kmph. While these aren’t game-changing numbers, they are quite decent, especially in terms of scooters.
It is sprung on a USD fork and monoshock
The Zero-One is built around an aluminium frame, suspended on USD forks and a monoshock. Interestingly, the frame is made with sustainable materials and can be recycled.
This is one of the USP’s for the scooter, as Naone claims the Zero-One consists of many recyclable parts which can be simply broken down and remade into raw material.
Naon Zero-One Pricing
Since this is a prototype, it isn’t available on sale currently. However, the company plans to sell the scooter in its home country at a price tag of €4,920 (Rs 4.20 lakh) and €6,420 (Rs 5.48 lakh) for the L1e and L3e models, respectively. This is quite a lot for a scooter of this calibre, especially from an Indian POV.
