Coupé SUV
A new trend in the SUV world appears to be turning your vehicle that is purposefully built to not be a car, into a car.
Mercedes-Benz is capitalizing on this through the release of the second-generation GLE 63 S 4MATIC+.
It is an SUV with a rugged front end, higher ground clearance than the lower-priced alternatives, and a low, swooping roofline that makes it look just a little bit higher and narrower than its non-coupé siblings.
The newest generation follows the design language of the rest of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, with its eye-inspired lights and aggressive fenders.
It comes in at a price of R2,948,000 in its most expensive trim.
Mercedes-Maybach
A Mercedes-Maybach is not the type of vehicle whose price is advertised all over the place, and you typically will have to contact Mercedes-Benz South Africa to find out more about buying one.
Fortunately, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC has its pricing listed online.
This does not mean it is any less impressive than its siblings – and still offers a champagne cooler and 410kW of power.
The design is nothing to scoff at either, as it clearly differentiates itself as the more prestigious Maybach while remaining tasteful and elegant.
You might be surprised to find out that it’s not the most expensive Mercedes-Benz on this list – and will cost you R2,917,000.
2-door sports car
The green beast emerges to claim this category – the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
This long-nosed, track-focused sports car sucks in air through the panamericana grille that Mercedes-Benz reserves for their special cars – and its was nicknamed “beast of the green hell” by its own manufacturers thanks to the exclusive “green hell magno” paint job it was revealed to the world in.

4-door sports car
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S is fitted with a 4.0-litre V8, biturbo engine – the same engine as in its 2-door siblings – with an increased output of 470kW and 900Nm.
This allows it a 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds.
From the front it is recognizable as an esteemed GT-line vehicle, with the signature elongated nose and vertical panamericana grille, but the rear sees a redesign as there is now an additional set of doors and a longer roofline.
