Back in July 2022, Mini Cooper unveiled a one-off SE Convertible EV it built for the Mini Takes the States event. While the automaker claimed the car was not intended as a production concept, that’s now changed. Mini has announced a limited run of just 999 Cooper SE Convertibles for the European market.
The Cooper SE Convertible is based on the same platform as its hardtop sibling. That means a 32.6-kWh battery pack is onboard to provide up to 125 miles of range, according to Europe’s WLTP test cycle. A single electric motor mounted at the front brings 184 hp, which will allow the convertible EV to hit 62 mph in 8.2 seconds. The convertible models will also come equipped with unique 17-inch cast alloy wheels, which are made from 100 percent secondary aluminum. The wheels are finished in the brand’s EV-exclusive black and silver finish, which might help you identify one on the road. Every Mini Cooper SE Convertible will also feature model-specific 1 of 999 lettering, as well as Resolute Bronze exterior accents. Enigmatic black or white silver are the only paint options.

Inside the Mini Cooper SE Convertible you’ll find standard sport seats, which come equipped with heating elements and adjustable thigh supports. The steering wheel comes trimmed in Nappa leather, while yellow accents dot various interior components. It is also worth noting that the Union Jack-wearing convertible top can be raised and lowered at speeds up to 18 mph. The rest of the interior equipment should be familiar fare for Mini SE fans.
The Mini Cooper SE has already proved to be a successful endeavor overseas, with one in five Minis sold on the continent coming in EV form. An electric convertible joining that lineup only makes sense, but we’re somewhat surprised that the model is being offered in such limited quantities. Mini hasn’t shared any pricing information or a release date related to the limited production model at this time.
