We’ve already caught a frontal shot of the all-new third-generation 2023 Toyota Innova after Toyota Indonesia dropped the first teaser but now it appears that the most important angle will be the one from the top that we’ve yet to get as the more premium Innova will feature a panoramic sunroof.
Toyota Indonesia didn’t mince their words, christening it “the next prestigious crossover,” and while a brightened-up photo of the teased grille and headlights indicate a premium appearance, the features have to back up that claim as well.
Expect to find the Dynamic Force mills under the hood of the new Innova
Expect some variants of the Innova Zenix being equipped with a panoramic sunroof; definitely a feature to be found in something that’s tossed around with description of “prestigious.” Nonetheless, not all markets will get the Innova with the sunroof.
From what’s been floating around on the internet so far, the next-gen Innova will reportedly be built on the same TNGA-C platform that underpins the popular Corolla Cross.

Keeping along the lines of its little sibling Avanza/Veloz, the Innova will most likely ditch its rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout for a more conventional front-wheel drive (FWD) setup that would make the cabin much roomier.
Under the hood, the Innova could find itself powered by two 2.0-litre Dynamic Force engines; a petrol unit and a hybrid unit. Regardless of the final powertrain options, it’ll almost certainly be a CVT automatic sending motive force to the front wheels.

Once again harking back to the rumour mill, the Innova could find itself sporting an electric parking brake (EPB) and a 10-inch infotainment head unit that should carry Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Of course, safety will come in the form of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite although much like the local Toyota line-up here, it’ll be reserved for the flagship variant.
Seeing as the all-new Innova isn’t an evolution from its predecessor but a revolution, a new identity seems appropriate as well. Hence, it makes sense Toyota has trademarked the Innova Zenix name in a few countries in the Southeast Asia region, including Malaysia.
Unfortunately, all the extra bells and whistles cost money and the new Innova will take a step up in terms of pricing. Indonesian media have estimated pricing between IDR 410 million to IDR 620 million (~RM 125k-189k). Surprisingly, this positions the flagship variant of the new Innova above the Toyota Voxy over there.
