Bangalore-based EV startup Simple Energy has launched the ‘One’ electric scooter in India. The Simple One is priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
The launch of the Simple One comes over a year and a half after the electric scooter was unveiled to the world on the 15th of August 2021. Since then, the Simple One has undergone further testing which has led to a series of improvements over the electric scooter shown in 2021.
Since its debut, the Simple One has garnered over one lakh bookings from customers across the country. Simple Energy will first concentrate on the deliveries of these pre-booked orders in a phased manner starting with Bangalore on the 6th of June.
The Simple One is powered by a dual-battery pack which combines a fixed battery and a portable unit. The total capacity is 5kWh which helps the Simple One delivers a range of 212km on a single charge (IDC with 6% SOC remaining). The battery pack is compatible with the newest safety guidelines.
The battery pack can be charged at home from 0 to 80 per cent in 5 hours and 54 minutes at home A portable 750-watt fast charger for home will be offered in September and cost an additional Rs 13,000.
Simple Energy’s own Loop fast charging network will begin deployment in August and when connected to one of these chargers, the One will be able to fast charge from 0-80 per cent at a rate of 1.5km/min.
The battery pack powers an electric motor that was built in-house. The electric motor pushes out a maximum output of 11.39bhp (8.5kW) and 72Nm of peak torque.
The Simple One is offered with multiple riding modes – Eco, Ride, Dash & Sonic. In Sonic mode, the Simple One sprints from 0-40km/h in 2.77 seconds, the quickest of any scooter in the segment.
As before there is a 7-inch touchscreen interface which allows for connectivity and all the smart features including all the info about the scooter and its battery pack.
The Simple One is offered in six colour options – Brazen Black, Namma Red, Azure Blue, Grace White and the two special colour options Brazen X and Light X.
