DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Young Nick Sanchez of Miami, Florida won the pole in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start Friday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.
The 21-year-old driver completed a lap at 181.899 around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway and will lead the field to the green flag to start Friday night’s NextEra Energy 250.
The 100-lap race starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
“I’d like to thank all of my guys on the Gainbridge Chevy, because of them, this happened,” Sanchez said. “They built a very fast truck.
“As far as the race, this is just half the battle. It’s a great position starting out, but these races get crazy at the end.”
Ty Majeski of ThorSport Racing was second in a Ford followed by Jack Wood in the Kyle Busch Motorsports Chevrolet, Christian Eckes in the McAnally-Hilgermann Racing Chevrolet and Corey LaJoie in the Spire Motorsports Chevrolet.
