Lunaz Design announced that its “restored, re-engineered and electrified” Aston Martin DB6 has started production.
The re-designed DB6 is equipped with Lunaz’s proprietary modular electric powertrain. Lunaz is promising 80-120 kWh battery capacity – making the DB6 capable of 255 miles range. The vehicle is also available with CCS fast-charging capability.
The company also claims that the drivability of the remastered Aston Martin remains strong thanks to braking, suspension, and steering upgrades. Interior comfort, meanwhile, has been brought up to modern standards with air conditioning and subtle implementation of the latest infotainment, navigation, and Wi-Fi tech.
According to Lunaz, every new e-DB6 “begins with a bare mental restoration”, but customers are afforded “a full scope of personalisation.” The engineering process also includes “an exhaustive inspection” for chassis setup, powertrain packaging and suspension. 3D scanning for CAD models, meanwhile, can ensure “technical perfection” in every step.
In addition, the company has emphasized the re-design is under the overall philosophy of “upcycling”, which means, the commitment to reducing waste and impact wherever possible “informs the process throughout.” Lunaz claims that the whole cabin environment of their renewed Aston Martin is composed of “100% recycled textiles” and bio-content constructed materials.
“Re-engineering and electrification delivers the ultimate Aston Martin driving experience. We are proud of our work creating a dynamic, engaging and truly usable expression of one of the great icons of British automotive heritage,” says Jon Hilton, Managing Director and Technical Lead, Lunaz Group.
Prospective customers are now available to order their Aston Martin DB6. Pricing is only available on application, but Lunaz expects to will “exceed $ 1 million” without local taxes. The first deliveries are expected in the third quarter of 2023. The company says that the production of the car is “limited” but has not stated exactly how limited the production one will be.
According to Lunaz, restoring, re-engineering, and electrifying “the most beautiful cars in history” serves to “further the[ir] legacies” for future generations. At the moment, the company has already re-designed “the world’s first and only” electric Rolls-Royce, as well as Bentley, Range Rover, and Jaguar sportscar models.
“As an investor in Lunaz and a huge car enthusiast, I’m delighted to see this new development which completes the company’s line up of British auto icons. I’m proud to be involved with a talented team that is leading the field in creating sustainable solutions,” comments David Beckham.
