Good evening Mr Bond… We’ve been expecting you. You’ve heard all about them and even seen running prototypes, but work on the very special DB5 recreations by Aston Martin Works has now begun. It’s the first time in 55 years a DB5 has been built by Aston, but these Goldfinger inspired cars feature a few extras not typically found on the options list.
If you wanted to be James Bond for the day, then this is how to do it in style. Aston Martin Works is now well versed in recreating some of the British marque’s most iconic models with incredible attention to detail. The Goldfinger DB5 recreations not only brings the iconic machine back to life, but they are also laden with real working gadgets from the film.
Chris Corbould OBE has won Oscars for his work in special effects, and he is responsible for turning Bond fiction into fact. The totally functional gadgets list is extensive and includes toys such as a rear smoke screen, revolving number plates, mock machine guns behind the headlights, retractable bulletproof shield, tyre slashers, gadget switchgear under the armrest and much more. These cars are the real deal!
Paul Spires, President of Aston Martin Works said: “Creating the DB5 Goldfinger Continuation cars and working with EON Productions and special effects supervisor, Chris Corbould, is something truly unique and a real career highlight for everyone involved here at Aston Martin Works.”
The DB5 Goldfinger recreations are being built at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, the very same place the original cars were constructed from 1963 to 1965. Just 25 recreations will be built, each costing £2.75 million. The very first of these cars is currently under construction – something that takes 4,500 hours per DB5 – and will be delivered in the second half of 2020.
We’re sure that each new owner will be left both shaken and stirred by their new purchases.
