The Aston Martin DB4 GT was born out of Sir David Brown’s ambition to go racing, with the regular DB4 homologated for exactly that purpose. It was made more powerful, lighter and precise in order to take on the world's most challenging tracks of the era. In 2017 Aston Martin Works sanction the construction of 25 continuation cars for a handful of very lucky owners. Today, one is being offered for sale for the first time.
Why build 25 new-old cars? Well, beyond being a showcase of the incredible craftsmanship at Aston Martin, in period 100 DB4 GTs were set to be built, but ultimately just 75 came into being. These 25 Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuations serve to set the record straight, with each being built to the exacting specifications of the day.
This DB4 GT Continuation is being offered for sale by Aston Martin Works, the first since all 25 were quickly snapped up by wealthy enthusiasts. Finished in Snow Shadow Grey with a triple stripe, this example has only covered delivery miles and is effectively a box-fresh car from 2017. It is powered by a 4.2-litre straight-six engine that produces 345bhp – a slight improvement over the original. These Continuation cars also feature better braking characteristics than their historical forefathers.
President of Aston Martin Works, Paul Spires said: “Painstakingly hand-built here at Aston Martin Works, the historic home of the brand since 1955, this particular car is special not only by virtue of being the first Continuation car built for a customer but also, today, for having such a low recorded mileage.”
Chassis number DB4/GT/0227/R is available for purchase now, however, price is upon appointment.
