- The all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ debuts in Thailand
- Both automatic and manual variants are offered
- Priced from RM 340k
The all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ, codenamed ZD8, has made its ASEAN debut at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).
Imported (CBU) from Japan, the Thai-spec 2022 Subaru BRZ is priced between THB 2,699,000 (~RM 340k) to THB 2,849,000 (~RM 358k). The high price is primarily due to the weak Ringgit versus the high Thai Baht. In Malaysia, TC Subaru has begun order taking for the 2022 Subaru BRZ, with prices starting from RM 229,245.
Unlike the previous generation Subaru BRZ (as well as its Toyota 86 twin) and its naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre boxer-4, the all-new second generation model gets a larger naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre boxer-4 engine that does 235 PS and 250 Nm.
In Thailand, the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ is offered with two transmission options: the obligatory 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed automatic. The stick shift-equipped BRZ is able to complete the century sprint in just 6.3 seconds, while the automatic variant does it in 6.9 seconds.
Standard equipment on the Thai-spec Subaru BRZ include LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, rear spoiler, leather-wrapped steering wheel and hand brake, 8-inch touch screen head unit, and 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
There are also 7 airbags to protect the occupants, stability control, hill start assist, and Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH).
Subaru’s EyeSight ADAS suite is only available on the automatic variant and it includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. On top of that, there’s Automatic High Beam and Reverse Automatic Braking.
For Thailand, 7 body colours are available, namely Sapphire Blue Pearl, WR Blue Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, and Ignition Red.
