The Porsche electric boat is expected to be priced just under $600,000.
Porsche has announced it will be launching a new electric boat in early 2024. The German automaker is said to have partnered with Austrian luxury boat maker Frauscher to build the – Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air.
While the new boat is based on the boat maker’s 858 Fantom Air, the similarities end there. Porsche states that the electric boat uses components from its all-new Premium Electric EV platform, which it will share with the Macan EV. The carmaker also confirmed that the new 850 Fantom Air boat will be powered by the same powertrain used on the all-new Macan EV. This comes in the form of a high-voltage lithium-ion battery paired with an electric motor, producing 500 kW (536 BHP) of max output on the Fantom Air e-boat.
The Porsche electric boat also features a 250 kW DC fast charging capability, which charges the batteries from 10-80% in under 30 minutes. Porsche states that the powertrain is capable of allowing the boat to cruise at 22 knots for an hour or travel about 28 miles. Being a Porsche, the electric boat comes with various drive modes, with slightly less range in Sport mode.
The Frauscher x Porsche electric boat also comes with a host of luxury features and creature comforts. This includes room for 9 passengers, a lounge area with two sunbathing pads, Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, Bluetooth stereo, LED ambient lighting all around, LED underwater lighting and a 12-inch display for the driver’s cockpit.
The Porsche electric boat is expected to be priced just under $600,000, with an initial run of just 25 first-edition models coming next year.
