Porsche’s famed 911 Carrera will see the addition of the “T” trim, also known as the “Touring” trim, for 2023, and for the #savethemanuals crowd with deep pockets and long arms, it’s certainly good news.
Arriving (barring any supply-chain issues) in the spring of 2023, the 911 Carrera T is going hard for drivers who enjoy an exhilarating driving experience. I mean, the rear seats will be omitted, while the Porsche Active Suspension Management system that lowers it by 10 mm (not new, but worth noting) will be present.
Propelling the T will be a twin-turbo engine producing 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque through a standard seven-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic, a “PDK,” in Porsche-speak. Yes, it’s the same engine as the entry-level Carrera 911, which is nothing to be ashamed of.
The manual comes with a locking mechanical rear differential, and all Ts come with the Sport Chrono package. Smartly, you can tick an option box (which I would) for rear-wheel steering, for improved cornering and handling ability.
Staggered wheels see 20-inchers up front and 21s in the rear, and the standard Sports Seat Plus gives you (oh-so generously) four-way power adjustments. Want something better? Of course you do! Adaptive Sports Seat Plus (that are 18-way adjustable, and electric) and lightweight full bucket seats featuring Race Tex seat centres are paid options.
Since the power-to-weight ratio is critical in the performance world, Porsche’s made the manual “T” the lightest in its lineup, weighing in at a measly 1,470 kg. For that we can thank the aforementioned omitted rear seats, paired with reduced insulation, lighter glass, and a lighter battery.

This is the fourth “T” iteration in the Porsche lineup, complementing the existing 718 Cayman T, the 718 Boxster T, and the Macan T. If you’re not familiar with the Porsche strategy, the “T” slots between the entry-level and S trims, making it somewhat “affordable” in relation to the rest of the lineup.
Colour-wise, you can pick from black, white, red, or yellow for solid colour; or four metallic finishes, in black, blue, grey, and silver. Of course, you can also spring for specialty colours, with options exceeding a hundred in number.
Want one? Of course you do! Well, at least I do. Starting at CDN$132,000, though, I better start writing more articles and doing more videos around here.
