The Taycan Record Run took just 29 hours to cover 1,146 miles.
As part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations, Porsche took on a unique challenge to complete the fastest single journey in an electric vehicle from Thailand to Singapore. A Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo in 4S trim was the weapon of choice, with three journalists sharing driving duties. The non-stop drive from Bang Yai on the outskirts of Bangkok to Gardens by the Bay in Singapore covered some 1,146 miles and was completed with the use of the Shell Recharge High Performance Charging network that Porsche helped to roll out in the region, something that may soon be replicated stateside.
Despite several challenges, the 'Taycan Record Run' was completed in just 29 hours and 15 minutes, with the time authenticated by TAG Heuer timekeepers.

The non-stop drive was only punctuated by 25-minute charging intervals, which would have been very effective considering how quickly the Taycan can charge. Following a recent upgrade, charging times dropped by almost 50%. But just to be safe, the drivers reserved the chargers they were coming up on up to an hour ahead of their arrival.
So why the Cross Turismo and not a Turbo? Well, the raised ride height of the Cross Turismo was seen as an advantage in case any roads proved difficult to traverse. In addition, the extra speed possible in a Turbo would not have been useful as the car was driven within all speed limits to not invalidate the record.

The journey ended at 10:15 local time, with the drivers welcomed by Taycan owners from Porsche Club Singapore, Porsche staff and event partners, and officials from the Singapore and Malaysia Book of Records.
“Our first all-electric sports car, the Porsche Taycan, is already the benchmark for sporty performance, dynamic handling, and efficient charging,” said Andre Brand, GM of Porsche Singapore. “Now, we elevate the use-case for electric cars even further by showing that long-distance, cross-border EV travel can be both fast and seamless with this first-ever Thailand-to-Singapore EV record.”
With Porsche continuing to make forays into the world of high-performance electrification – the Vision 357 Speedster Concept is a good example – everyday cars like the Taycan will only get better.
