A pilot Australian rental program allows you to get behind the wheel of your favourite Porsche sports car without buying it.
Dubbed ‘Porsche Drive Rental,’ the service – run by official local arm Porsche Cars Australia – will be offered exclusively in Melbourne for six months from today to evaluate local demand.
The 718 Boxster S will cost $718 for each 24-hour period, the Taycan 4S electric sedan will cost $899, and the flagship 911 (Carrera S or 4S) will set you back $911 per day. The SUV range – comprising the Macan and larger Cayenne – is not currently on offer.
While initially not available nationwide, Daniel Schmollinger – the CEO and Managing Director of Porsche Australia – alluded to the possibility to expanding into other cities in a statement: “This pilot program … will give us tremendous insights into how we evolve this offering in Australia in future years.”
The ‘Porsche Drive Rental’ website is now live, and vehicles can be collected from next Monday (14 February 2022).
Porsche has operated an official rental service in Europe and Asia since 2019, however this is the first time cars have been loaned out by the marque Down Under.
