Above the Cayenne, Porsche is introducing a huge crossover vehicle. The flagship of the brand is slated to debut in the second part of this decade. Dealers in the United States saw an initial drawing of the car at a presentation, according to news sources.
They describe the form as “quite unconventional Porsche” with a “flat rear design.” The car is “half sedan, half crossover” and “dangerous,” with little resemblance to the Porsche Cayenne or Porsche Macan. It is also feasible to add a third row of seats.
As an Audi Landjet clone, the Porsche crossover sedan
Porsche spokeswoman refused to confirm or deny the model’s existence. The sketch depicts a model from Porsche’s Unseen program, “the majority of which never get beyond the concept stage.” Despite this, they want to “continue to explore new methods in which we might compete in the future.”
The lack of a specific crossover model in the Unseen series has fueled conjecture that Porsche may have previously completed an internal design study but hidden it from us.
Porsche unveiled a number of never-before-seen prototypes under the banner Unseen at the end of 2020, including a Safari 911, a Porsche Van, and the Vision 960 Turismo, an extended sedan with four doors and… electric driving. In terms of design, the Taycan’s first design features were seen on the 1: 1 model in 2016.
The sedan, on the other hand, lacks any sort of crossover attitude. Of course, Porsche might apply the Taycan Sport Turismo / Cross-Turismo trick here and give the model greater ground clearance (for the battery stacks) and plastic add-on pieces, as it did with the Taycan Sport Turismo / Cross-Turismo (for the SUV look).
PPE underpins Porsche’s flagship vehicle.
According to the design description, it may be a Porsche vehicle developed in collaboration with development partner Audi as part of the Artemis project. The Ingolstadt-based business envisioned the electric future with three concept automobiles in mid-2021.
In addition to the big touring limousine Grand Sphere (project name Landjet) and the flat sports vehicle Sky Sphere, the Urban Sphere had the shape of a crossover. The latter will only be broadcast in China as a study in the spring of 2022.
All three variants are based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which was developed in collaboration with Porsche. The Grand Sphere (seen in the photo) will be released in 2024 and will be comparable to the Sky Sphere in that it will feature a 465 kW electric motor with 750 Nm torque and an 80 kW battery.
Porsche plans to produce an unusual crossover car in the second part of the decade. This is how dealers want to view it during a presentation. Although Porsche neither confirms nor denies this, the car might be built on the PPE platform developed in collaboration with Audi. This would make it a sibling vehicle of Audi’s touring sedan, codenamed “Landjet.”
