Volkswagen’s luxury division Porsche will suspend production of its electric Taycan model at the group’s Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant until the end of next week, the company said in a statement March 9, citing a lack of components.
This means that about 200 Taycan cars cannot be built per day, Porsche said.
However, production at Porsche’s Leipzig plant, which has been suspended until the end of this week, will be partially resumed from Monday due to an improved supply situation, the group added.
[An unverified leaked email published on Twitter early March outlined how Porsche vehicle production will be “partly stopped for all model lines” during March, and its timelines suggested assembly of the Macan, Panamera, Cayenne, and Taycan has already been halted.
The automaker told Car and Driver that “production of the 911 and 718 model series in the main plant is not currently affected and that production of the Cayenne in Bratislava is continuing this week […] Porsche’s Leipzig plant, where it builds the Macan and Panamera, will start up again in ‘reduced operation’ some time in the coming week thanks to what the company is calling ‘an improved supply situation.’” —Ed.]
