Swedish car company Polestar today announced that the world premiere of the highly anticipated Polestar 3 will take place in October. Given the huge popularity of SUVs, it’s safe to assume this model will lead Polestar sales in no time.
The first official picture showing an undisguised Polestar 3 was released as part of the announcement.
The sporty profile is reminiscent of the Volvo C40 Recharge, and the advanced aerodynamics include air channels at the front of the hood plus a raised spoiler at the top of the liftgate.

The black roof panel incorporates a panoramic glass surface, the headlights introduce a new visual signature, and the taillights have a sleek 3D design. Elsewhere, the doors feature flush-mounted handles, while lower-body cladding adds a dose of ruggedness SUV customers look for.
The wheels are styled to evoke the Polestar logo and hide brake callipers in a distinctive colour. The same colour can be found inside, more specifically on the seat belts.

What else do we know about the Polestar 3? Described as a performance SUV, it rides on a new architecture and will launch with a dual-motor AWD configuration. The large-capacity battery has a range target of over 600 km according to the WLTP standard, so more like 500+ km in North America.
Similar to the Polestar 2, expect total system output to be rated at 408 horsepower. A single-motor RWD variant is unlikely to be offered here. On the other hand, the Polestar 3 will, over time, offer autonomous highway piloting powered by the best-in-class LiDAR sensor from Luminar and centralized NVIDIA computing power, the company is promising.

Production will start early in 2023 at the same Volvo plant in South Carolina that will build the next-gen XC90. In the two years after that, the lineup will expand with the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5, one of which will be based on the Precept concept.
This will support Polestar’s plans to grow ten-fold from global sales of approximately 29,000 in 2021 to approximately 290,000 by the end of 2025.
