But first deliveries of all-new Swedish-Chinese EV pushed back to March
The all-new 2022 Polestar 2 will be backed by a seven-day money-back customer satisfaction guarantee when first deliveries of preconfigured vehicles take place a month later than previously expected in March.
The online order book for the Swedish-developed, Chinese-built electric fastback opened in December, two months after Polestar Australia announced three specifications priced from just $59,900.
Polestar also told carsales late last year that customers who order specific colour/trim combinations would face an extra three-month wait following first deliveries in February.
Since then more than 1600 potential customers have experienced the Polestar 2 during the all-electric Volvo sister brand’s Australian test-drive roadshow at locations in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Additional dates for Sydney and Melbourne have also been released and Polestar says reservation holders have placed nearly 300 vehicle orders in the past 48 hours.
Polestar Australia managing director Samantha Johnson said feedback from these events was overwhelmingly positive and demand for the Polestar 2 has been strong.
“There is incredible interest in electric vehicles in Australia, with sales increasing by more than 190 per cent year-on-year in 2021. We’re thrilled that the Polestar 2 is now here to help meet that demand,” she said.
“With 180 vehicles on the ground in Australia and ready for delivery in March, the Polestar 2 will further accelerate our national shift to an electric vehicle fleet.”
Also today, Polestar announced that its direct-to-customer online sales model will be supported not only by a five-year factory-backed warranty, five-year roadside assistance coverage and five-year complimentary service plan, but a seven-say Customer Satisfaction Guarantee in Australia.
Polestar says the extra peace-of-mind incentive, which is offered only to private customers, entitles buyers to a full refund if they are not fully satisfied for up to a week from the date of delivery and up to 500km.
“A new vehicle is often the second-largest purchase a person will make after a home, so it’s important to not only recognise that, but to also stand behind our vehicles – and our customers – with a guarantee that provides the peace-of-mind and confidence in the direct-to-consumer model,” said Johnson.
“We see that Australians are increasingly ready to make the switch to electric vehicles, and this guarantee is designed to make that transition as easy as possible for Polestar 2 customers.”
