Fans of the Pixar movie Cars, get excited because and Pixar are teaming up to bring one of the characters to real life! Sally Carrera will be recreated into a modern-day one-off road-legal Porsche and she will be auctioned off to help raise funds for a charity that supports girls.
The collaboration between Porsche and Pixar was announced at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival that is currently in full swing in Texas, USA.
In case you don’t know, Sally Carrera is a 2002 996-generation 911 Carrera. She was originally an attorney in LA before moving to Radiator Springs to take on the role of the town’s attorney.
She caught the attention of our Nascar protagonist Lightning McQueen and quickly became his love interest.
In the movie, Sally is finished in a unique metallic blue colour and was teased to have ‘a pinstripe tattoo’ on her spoiler. She also sports very cool turbo twist-style wheels.
The one-off real-life Sally Carrera will also be finished in that unique blue, designers are also adding the little pinstripe tattoo detail. But the modern-day Sally will be based on a 992-generation Carrera GTS with a manual transmission instead.
In addition to that, Sally in-the-metal will also feature a modern interpretation of her wheels from the movie, custom badges, and extra silver trims. Meanwhile, the interior will be shot with the same blue and decorated with more badges.
Like we’ve mentioned, Sally will be fully road legal so the real-life car will have to make do without the eyes on the windshield.
Of course, this being a one-off meant that there will be more special-edition goodies that will come with it.
Porsche will also be including a one-off watch to match the car as well as a special luggage set, a physical map of Radiator Springs, a special owner’s manual, and books detailing the design process.
Proceeds from Sally’s auction will be donated to Girls Inc., a charity organisation that helps provide long-term education programmes for girls in the US, as well as to UNHCR, the UN’s refugee agency.
Though the project has been in the works for months, Porsche is speeding up its process due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. It hopes that the money from the auction will further support kids and their families that were affected and displaced by the war.
