It’s so much better being a kid these days. Not only do they have tablets, laptops and TV channels devoted to them, they can also have their own McLaren. That is, if their parents are prepared to spend £375 on a toy. The latest machine to come out of Woking is the McLaren Senna Ride-On: a mini electric version of the track-focussed hypercar for the kid who has everything.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen one of these garden run arounds from McLaren, the P1 and 720S have both received the shrinking treatment. When bought online the Senna Ride-On comes in the same five paint schemes as the real thing: black, white, Mira orange, Vega blue and Memphis red. But if you buy it from a McLaren retailer you can buy in the Ayrton Senna-tribute yellow and green. While the toy is aimed at three to six-year-olds, McLaren crammed Lando Norris into one to make sure he was happy with the way it drives. They even took pictures to prove it.
The Senna Ride-On costs a hefty £375, but it comes with dihedral doors and even has an infotainment system which can be paired up to a device via a USB cable. It also has working brake lights. Oh to be a child again.
