Second EV from fledgling Italian car-maker said to blend high-performance and luxury with an 800km range
US-Italian start-up Aehra has revealed its second model and it’s been created to rival the likes of the Mercedes-AMG EQS and the sportier Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Revealed at the recent Monza motor show in Italy, the new electric sports sedan follows the Aehra electric SUV that was unwrapped late last year.
Milan-based Aehra, which does not name its models, has once again bestowed dramatic styling on its latest model, the top half of which is said to have been inspired by an aircraft, while the lower section incorporates active aero.
Like the SUV, the new Aehra Sedan also features front and rear falcon doors.
The catch is it won’t be launched in Europe until 2026 and no images of the Aehra Sedan’s interior have yet been released, but you can expect a Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen-style infotainment display to stretch across the car’s dashboard, helping its cabin to turn into a cinema on wheels when parked.
There’s no official confirmation, but it’s thought the Aehra Sedan will come with a three-motor powertrain that will produce around 600kW.
Powered by a large 120kWh battery, it’s thought the Aehra Sedan will be capable of travelling up to 800km on a single charge.
The advanced batteries are capable of charging at up to a rate of 350kW thanks to its 925-volt electrical architecture. Bi-directional charging, meanwhile, means the sedan can also power your home if there’s a blackout.
Aehra is targeting 25,000 sales a year by 2027, and to keep costs low the sedan and SUV share 70 per cent of their components, with all parts sourced from current OEMs rather than starting from scratch.
In charge of development is ex-Lotus engineering boss Francisco Cimatti, who worked with Ferrari but was most recently responsible for creating the Lotus Eletre SUV.
When introduced in 2026, the Aehra sedan is expected to cost around €160,000 ($A255,000), while the bigger SUV will be priced at about €180,000 ($A288,000).
