An issue with the antilock brake system has prompted the latest recall from Stellantis of over 270,900 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs.
The recall affects model-year 2018-19 Durangos and Grand Cherokees. A malfunction in the ABS module may illuminate the brake lights and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied. This could result in a rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Stellantis has not yet worked out a remedy, but owners will be notified July 22. Those with further questions in the meantime can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
