The Volkswagen Passat R-Line has been enhanced to offer more power and more premium features. Introduced recently by Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM), the new VW Passat R- Line offers more befitting its status as the world’s best-selling mid-sized sedan. It is also the second model in Malaysia to feature the new Volkswagen logo.

Although the engine is still 2 litres in volume, it has received a power boost. The Passat R-Line’s 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine now produces 220 PS and 350 Nm of torque (previously 190 PS and 320 Nm). The engine is also now paired with a 6-speed wet clutch DSG to deliver a dynamic driving experience; the previous was a 7-speed wet DSG. But like before, the drive can be personalised even further with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and Driving Mode Selection, to cater to your driving style and needs. The car’s official fuel efficiency is rated at approximately 6.9 l/100km.

“The Passat is built on a successful combination of class and performance, which makes it the sedan of choice for the sophisticated both globally and locally. We have retained the unique features of the Passat R-Line but fine-tuned its performance, so that it becomes an ideal partner for the discerning driver,” commented Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM.

In the cabin, there is a 3-zone Climatronic climate control with haptic touch feature that is simple and intuitive to use. There are finer details added to the interior to make it more luxurious but the key highlight is the premium Harman Kardon audio system. The 12 high-performance speakers and 700-watt amplifier with its 4 modes i.e. Pure, Chill Out, Live and Energy, promises to create an immersive audio journey for every drive.

The Volkswagen Passat R-Line is locally assembled in Pekan and as such it is eligible for the current sales tax exemption. It is priced from RM211,916.88 (on the road without insurance), and includes 3 years of free maintenance, 5 years of roadside assistance, and 5 years of unlimited mileage warranty.

The Passat R-Line is available in 5 exterior colours i.e. Aquamarin Blue, Manganese Grey, Deep Black, Oryx White, as well as the new Scale Silver. The black and white colours are pearl-effect (available at no additional cost) while the rest are metallic.
