1,000+ riders graduated from MMDA’s Riding Academy
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is proud to report that there have been more than 1,000 motorcycle riders who graduated from their Motorcycle Riding Academy (MRA) since its opening last September 2023.
“So far since opening [MRA] to the public on September 27, there have been more than 1,000 motorcycle riders that have graduated and were given certifications by the agency,” said MMDA Acting Chairman, Atty. Don Artes during a recent press briefing.
The MRA was created by the MMDA with the primary goal of decreasing motorcycle-related road accidents by teaching motorcycle riders the basics of riding a motorcycle and instilling road discipline.
The two-day course also includes Basic Road Emergency Response; Road Traffic Rules and Regulations; Motorcycle Orientation on basic parts; control and operation of motorcycles; demonstration of static position and moving position, and; Motorcycle Skills Practice and Demonstration.
The MMDA also added that enrollment to MRA is FREE, and while there are motorcycles and riding gear donated by the private sector, trainees may opt to bring their own motorcycle and riding gear during training.
“We’re coordinating with TESDA [Technical Education and Skills Development Authority] and LTO [Land Transportation Office] for the accreditation of our motorcycle academy and to consider the certificates issued to graduates as requisites for license application for motorcycle riders,” added Artes.
