CYBERJAYA: MINI Malaysia has introduced the new MINI Seven Edition – the first design model from the brands’ 5-door generation, and there’s going to be just 30 examples available.
The new addition is accompanied by a MINI 4 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service and is estimated to be priced on the road without insurance at RM253,888.
The new MINI Seven Edition pays homage to the original Austin Seven and comes in a special MINI Yours colour of Lapisluxury Blue (a non-metallic finish), while the roof and exterior mirror caps is coated in Melting Silver.
It also comes with bonnet stripes, 17-inch light alloy two-spoke design wheels in the MINI Yours paint finish of Spectre Grey.
The New MINI Seven Edition also includes LEDs for the headlights, daytime driving rings and fog lamps, while the surrounds of the side scuttles bear the logo of the design model and the MINI Seven logo is found on the door sill finishers – both on the driver and front passenger sides.
Inside, there’s a new dashboard on the steering column and newly positioned controls, fabric-leather combination sports seats in Diamond Malt Brown, matched with Piano Black accents.
The MINI Yours steering wheel is made of “Walknappa” leather with hand-stitched seams in waxed aluminium braided thread and is finished with a union jack signet.
Also, the armrest is foldable in various positions with integrated storage compartments.
Other features include the MINI Seven Entry Strips and MINI Seven Centre Instrument Ring Badging.
There’s also Comfort Access with easy opener function which allows for the the unlocking of doors and the boot as well as starting of engine without the use of the car key.
Powering the Seven Edition is a 192hp, 280Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission with paddle shifters.
This means it will get from 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds and achieve an average fuel consumption of 5.5 litres per 100km.
The car also comes with the MINI Driving Modes that are activated by means of a rotary switch at the base of the gear or selector lever. In addition to the standard MID mode, there is a choice of SPORT and GREEN mode.
The modes will influence the behaviour of the accelerator, steering, transmission’s shift characteristics and Dynamic Damper Control program map.
For safety, there’s Dynamic Stability Control with Dynamic Traction Control and Electronic Differential Lock Control, among others.
It has also been fitted with Performance Control – a system that counters any tendency to understeer prior to reaching the threshold level.
Other luxury amenities include an 8.8-inch High Resolution Navigation System Professional with a reverse camera – viewable on the MINI Centre Instrument.
The system is able to recognise handwritings with the touchpad integrated into the MINI Controller.
The Controller can also be rotated and pressed to access many functions, change various settings and scroll through lists.
Optional extras include a Snap In Adapter, which is a docking system with integrated charging function for most mobile phones. By connecting with the car’s external aerial, it ensures the best possible reception at all times.
Lastly, entertainment comes from a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon HiFi Sound System.
