British carmaker Mini has revealed the Cooper SE Convertible. The all-new Mini Cooper SE Convertible is a limited-run EV with only 999 set to make it to the world’s roads.
The announcement of the limited production run of the convertible version of the Mini Cooper SE EV comes less than 8 months after the British marque showed off a one-off prototype in July 2022.
The new Mini Cooper SE Convertible will be built at the firm’s facilities in the Netherlands. The limited-run drop-top EV will be built alongside its dino-burning siblings. However, unlike its colourful siblings, the new Mini Cooper SE Convertible will only be offered in two colourways – Enigmatic Black and White Silver.
This special electric convertible also sports quite a few more unique design features that include a Resolute Bronze finish for the door handles, side scuttles and the surrounds of the front and rear lights. The Mini logos and the badges designating the model name are finished in Piano Black.
The limited-run car sports special door sills and each car will feature 1/999 badging. The convertible EV rides on 17-inch cast alloy wheels that are made from recycled aluminium.
The fabric roof is part of the Mini Yours style setup offered and features a Union Jack pattern. The roof can be operated electronically at speeds of up to 30km/h.
The interior is quite unique as well with the limited edition 1/999 badging along with sports seats upholstered in leather and piano black trim and a heated steering wheel wrapped in Nappa Leather.
Other features include a heads-up display, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, a Harmon-Kardon stereo system, a rear-view camera and ADAS features like active cruise control along with park assist among many others.
The new Mini Cooper SE Convertible is powered by a 32.6kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor located on the front axle. The electric motor puts out 181bhp and propels the drop-top Mini EV from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds.
The battery pack on the new Mini Cooper SE convertible delivers a range of 201 kilometres on a single charge as per the WLTP testing cycle. When plugged into a 50kW fast DC charger the battery pack will fast charge to 80 per cent in just 36 minutes.
