Hotter DBX set for big power boost but is set to miss out on the twin-turbo V12
Aston Martin has released its second tease of the faster, more powerful DBX that could carry the ‘DBX S’ nameplate when it lands on February 1.
The latest teaser of the Aston Martin DBX S is of a very revealing side profile of the fast SUV that details some of the differences over the base model, chiefly it’s huge new rear diffuser and jutting front splitter that both hint at big aerodynamic revisions designed to improve stability at high speeds.
Not visible, is new side skirts and extra front and rear bumper aero-blades that will also do their part to help manage air around the Aston more efficiently.
Already billed by the British sports car maker as “the world’s most powerful luxury SUV”, no further details have been released, but the faster 2022 Aston Martin DBX is hotly tipped to miss out on the company’s twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 and get an uprated version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that it sources from Mercedes-AMG.
Instead of the standard DBX’s 405kW and 700Nm, we expect the new faster variant to match the mighty 470kW/900Nm the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door pumps out.
With that level of performance on tap, expect significant gains on the 4.5sec 0-100km/h sprint and 291km/h top speed the regular DBX can manage, with the faster Aston SUV set to have a 0-100km/h claim that dips into the threes.
The DBX S’ top speed should easily be in excess of 300km/h.
To help cope with the performance boost, the quickest DBX will come with its own bespoke chassis tune that will include stiffer air springs, bigger brakes and stickier tyres.
Stay tuned, as more teasers will be dropped ahead of the February 1 reveal.
