The Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, GLC 300 4MATIC and GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe facelift has been launched by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) to strengthen its position as the leader in the premium SUV segment in Malaysia. The GLC 200 comes with a retail price of RM299,888, while the GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe will cost you RM419,888. Meanwhile, the GLC 300 4MATIC has yet to receive an official price tag and is estimated to be around RM350,000. All three models are locally assembled and the prices are on-the-road without insurance.
All three models are powered by the M264 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine (M264). In the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, it produces 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while in the GLC 300 variants, it churns out 258 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission allowing for 0 – 100 km/h times of 7.8 seconds (GLC 200), 6.2 seconds (GLC 300) and 6.3 seconds (GLC 300 Coupe).
The GLC 200 facelift includes chrome elements which run from the front to the rear end, redesigned LED high performance headlamps, a redesigned radiator grille and twin tailpipes integrated into the rear bumper garnish, which are included in the Optical Off-road exterior package, along with the 20″ 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. It also runs on comfort suspension with higher ground clearance. Meanwhile, the GLC 300 4MATIC is equipped with the Night Package based on the AMG Line exterior that
features striking black design elements and sport aprons for a sportier look. In addition it is packed with 20″ AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps which respond to traffic situations with individually controllable LEDs, panoramic sliding sunroof and Comfort Access powered tailgate. The GLC 300 rides on AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping system that automatically adapts to road conditions for balanced ride comfort and driving stability.
For those who prefer a less SUV-shaped SUV, there is the Coupe version of the GLC 300. Like the GLC 300, the Coupe is also equipped with the Night Package based on the AMG Line exterior, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps and the diamond radiator grille, as well as a standard sunroof. At the rear, the GLC 300 Coupé has tailpipe trim integrated into the bumper and LED tail lamps unique to the Coupe version. With the model update, the GLC 300 Coupé is equipped with the sports suspension which delivers a firmer set-up for improved handling.
On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 wear the Exclusive Line trim package, while the GLC 300 4MATIC and GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe variants have AMG Line packages. They include ARTICO Leather upholstery, and stainless steel door sills with illuminated “Mercedes-Benz” name. The infotainment system is now upgraded to a larger 10.25″ touchscreen with MBUX complemented by a fully-digital 12.3″ instrument cluster with three choices of display styles i.e. “Classic”, “Progressive” and “Sporty”. Among the features available are hard-disk navigation app, Mercedes me connect remote services, smartphone integration, and voice control.
Safety-wise, there are seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, Auto Park Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Pre-Safe which adjusts the seat belts, head restraints and windows to prepare the occupants for when the system senses imminent collision. The Coupé also has Active Lane Keeping Assist and a Burmester sound system.
