Mercedes-Benz has published a new short video called Awake in conjunction with the University of Television and Film Munich as part of a campaign to highlight the hazards of falling asleep while driving.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is shown in the short film, and the electric vehicle's Microsleep Detection feature, which is a micro-sleep warning system, is displayed.
The Attention Assist feature comes standard on the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. This technology may detect common indicators of fatigue or increased inattention during lengthy, repetitive rides and prompt a break with a warning message. The added micro-sleep detection analyses a driver's eyelid movements using a camera on the driver's display.
Mercedes-Benz EQS driver assistance technologies and safety features, according to the premium carmaker, can help create an accident-free driving environment.
If the system detects evidence of microsleep, it warns the user visually and audibly with an additional message. That's because, according to the results of TNS Kantar's Beware of Microsleep poll of 1,000 car drivers, 26 percent of them suffer from micro-sleep.
